Sep. 23 2022

Bureau Veritas was honored to attend the launching ceremony of Vietnamese rice brand "Cơm ViệtNam Rice" on September 6, organized by Loc Troi Group at Carrefour Collagen hypermarket in Paris. This is an important milestone for the collaboration between Loc Troi and Bureau Veritas. As the world's leading testing, inspection, and certification company, Bureau Veritas has been accompanying Loc Troi in bringing the Vietnamese rice brand name for the first time to major supermarket chains in Europe.

Following the success of "Cơm ViệtNam Rice" distributed at Leclerc supermarket chain in early September 2022, Loc Troi continues to bring the Vietnamese rice brand into Carrefour supermarket chain. It is known that these are the two leading distribution systems with a total of nearly 800 hypermarkets and more than 3,000 supermarkets and convenience store chains across France.

A JOURNEY FOR VIETNAMESE RICE BRAND AT EUROPEAN RETAIL CHAINS

Vietnam has risen to become one of the leading rice producers and exporters in the world. Recently, Vietnamese rice has been distributed under an overseas importer's brand name and exported in plain bags. Many domestic agricultural enterprises and corporations have pursued the establishment of rice production chains according to high-quality standards. The pioneering "footsteps" of Loc Troi Group in Europe are a good sign for Vietnam's agricultural industry; their success affirms the position of Vietnamese rice in the world market. Distributing Vietnamese rice brands in France is important to both countries because this is the first major commercial contract implemented on the basis of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA). This shows that the Agreement is effective and creates favorable conditions for Vietnamese rice to be exported directly to Europe. Europe has substantial entry barriers to entering its market. Suppliers of agricultural products must comply with quality assurance procedures and commit to stable output, which requires businesses to have a long-term and sustainable strategy. In order to enter the market, Loc Troi rice meets the highest requirements that the European market asks for in terms of farming processes, standard crop protection products, and human-centric and environmental protection in large-scale agricultural production. Harvesting in the field, drying and storage must be done at a suitable time to ensure the best quality rice.

OPENING OPPORTUNITIES FOR VIETNAMESE BUSINESSES

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to promote the advantages of EVFTA, coordinate with domestic exporters and importers in foreign markets, and fully exploit the advantages of this trade agreement to meet the commitments and promote exports to European countries. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to tap into the potential of the world's fastest-growing consumer class.
