GLOBALG.A.P. Compound Feed Manufacturing (CFM) version 3.1 issue on December 20, 2022 applies to the scope of “Animal and aquaculture feed production”. Currently, certified companys are still applying GLOBALG.A.P. CFM version 2.2 in parallel with version 3.0 until 01/01/2024 will require mandatory application of version 3.1.

Following the current trend of supplementing sustainable development content of most standards in general and standards applied to animal feed in particular, GLOBALG.A.P. CFM version 3.1 introduces expanded environmental and social responsibility criteria, with a more stringent focus on sustainability, responsible sourcing for critical ingredients such as soybeans and fishmeal, fish oil and employee welfare compared to the previous version.

In order to inform customers of changes in General Requirements as well as updated and supplemented terms of GLOBALG.A.P. CFM version 3.1 compared to previous versions; Bureau Veritas Certification would like to summarize the main changes of the new version as follows:

  • Parts A, B and D are the core content of the GLOBALG.A.P standard. CFM and is mandatory for certification companies. Includes:

A) Feed Safety, Traceability, and Responsible Sourcing

B) Workers’ Competence, Health, Safety, and Welfare

D) Guidelines

Part C (Social and Environmental Governance) can be optional and will be shown on the Certificate.

Version 3.1 enhances the standard requirement by increasing the total number of CPCCs from 209 in CFM v2.2 to 264 in CFM v3.1. This increase is mainly due to detailed criteria for sustainable raw materials, especially soybeans, palm oil and fishmeal/fish oil, as well as determining the percentage of these ingredients that will be incorporated into the final product to meet standard.

Updated content on additional environmental and social governance points. This includes new sustainability criteria on environmental permits, fair operating practices, manufacturing processes (energy, emissions, water, waste, and effluents), labor practices and local community engagement.
