EU CE MARKING

EU CE MARKING

As a unified entity, the European Union boasts the world's largest economy, reaching a GDP of 18.3 trillion USD in 2019. In 2020, the EU comprised 27 countries with a population of 448 million Europeans. For most companies, tapping into this market is crucial for success.

Navigating and overcoming technical barriers to trade, such as understanding applicable directives and standards, is a challenging but essential task.

What is CE marking?

CE marking signifies that the manufacturer, its representative, or the importer confirms that the product meets all essential requirements of relevant EU directives. European Directives requiring CE marking cover areas like toy safety, medical devices, machinery, low-voltage equipment, R&TTE, and Electromagnetic compatibility. Approximately 25 directives mandate CE marking.

The manufacturer, whether within or outside the EU, is ultimately responsible for product conformity with relevant directives and affixing the CE marking. In some cases, an authorized representative within the EU may act on the manufacturer's behalf.
