The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) is a global multi-stakeholder organization founded in March 2011 with approximately 200 members, including brands, retailers, manufacturers, non-profits, governments, service providers, trade groups, and academic institutions (as of November 2017). Its members collaborate to minimize the environmental and social impact of apparel and footwear worldwide.
The Sustainable Apparel Coalition focuses on developing and using the Higg Index, a suite of self-assessment tools to measure sustainability impacts of apparel and footwear products. There are two facility-level modules: the Environmental Facility Module and the Social/Labor Facility Module-Beta, primarily used by manufacturers and facilities but can also be shared with sourcing, brands, and retailers.
There are 7 Sections in the Environmental Facility Module (EFM):
