OPERABILITY & COMFORT

OPERABILITY & COMFORT

Maintaining a high level of operability and comfort is crucial to operating a ship in good condition.
To enhance vessel operability, Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore offers a wide range of services enabling ship owners and operators to improve seakeeping ability, as well as noise, vibration, maneuvering and aerodynamics capabilities. Based on simulations and on-board measurements, our services help increase the efficiency and operability of your vessels, and ensure compliance with regulations from the design stage on.

For ship operators, maximizing vessel operability is crucial, synonymous with profitability and maximal vessel use. Crew and/or passenger comfort is a further challenge, which has prompted many shipowners to reduce onboard noise and ship vibration by optimizing deck layout according to wind effects.

  • By improving operability, Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore allows clients to reduce OPEX, and maximize a vessel’s lifetime profitability

  • Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore offers complementary services based on advanced software and onboard measurement to improve ship operability

OUR OFFER

SEAKEEPING ASSESSMENTS

Seakeeping can be a limiting factor for ship operability. The design and integration of roll reduction devices, either static or dynamic, can drastically improve ship operability by limiting its motion and acceleration. Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore can evaluate the performance of different mitigation devices (fins, antiroll tanks, etc.), and optimize their design according to ship and operating conditions.

NOISE AND VIBRATION NOTATIONS

The noise and vibration of ship structures can limit vessel capabilities and reduce the comfort level on board passenger ships. To assess the causes of noise and vibration, Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore completes a FEM analysis. The primary sources of noise and vibration are taken into account, such as engines excitations and hydrodynamic loads induced by the propeller.

ONBOARD MEASUREMENTS

Bureau Veritas Solutions Marine & Offshore provides numerous measurements to improve and de-risk your vessels. Our shaft alignment measurements determine the necessity of onboard alignment operations. Our ship speed and power measurements check your vessel’s compliance with contractual requirements. Strain measurements assess your vessel’s stress values during specific operations or operational periods.
